4x4 or not, you can do it but you have to be patient! Way back is more difficult from my perspective as it made our brakes overheating. But it's worth it, there's 2 main free campgrounds with toilets, picnic tables, several individuals sites, guarded by BC Hydro staff, but the view is hidden by fences and trees. If you drive further, you'll find a bunch of spots along the lake on the side of the road that have a way nicer view! But people leave their trash on the road and all other the spots, which is terrible. It took more than an hour to cleanup before set up and as we wanted to educate people with a big « don't leave trash » sign, BC Hydro staff were kinda rude by telling us that it encourages people to bring their trash in the containers of the campgrounds (which they refuse).

One of the most amazing campsites I've been to! BUT definitely would think twice if you don't have 4x4 or at least high clearance vehicle. Steepest section of the road has recently been graded and is pretty soft currently.

Very nice campground, BUT: it took us 1 hour up and 45 minutes down with a small RV - extreme bumpy road (to be nice). Its doable, but I would never EVER do it again!
