Description
At the Berg Lake Campground, the most popular site on the Berg Lake Trail, youll find a restored heritage building called the Hargreaves Shelter. This historic log chalet is available for day use only. A great place to meet fellow hikers from all every corner of the world.
This is a hike in campground in the Mount Robson Provincial Park. There is no vehicle access.
The campgrounds has bear proof food storage lockers, pit toilets, washbasins and grey-water pits. There are no showers, no flush toilets and no fires allowed. Camp stoves are mandatory for cooking.
The views from the Berg Lake Campground are some of the finest in the British Columbia park system. Berg Lake is of course named for the ice bergs that are found throughout the summer season. They originate from the toe of the Berg Glacier, one of the main geologic features viewed from this campground. The incredible combination of water, ice, rock and sky make this site a world class destination.
Numerous day hikes can be accessed from the Berg Lake Campground. A ranger station is located 1.5 KM north east of this campground for hikers requireing information or assistance.
For overnight trips, dogs are not permitted on the trail. Dogs are permitted on the trail for day hikes only but must be on a leash.
Each year, reservations for the Berg Lake Trail are available beginning October 1st for the following season. There are no first-come, first-served sites available for the Berg Lake trail during the reservable dates. If you do not have a reservation, only non-reserved sites or cancellations will be available, and it may be difficult to obtain a spot on the trail. Outside of the reservable period, registration and payment of trail fees must take place at the Mount Robson Park Visitor Information Centre.
You may register and obtain your camping permit for the Berg Lake Trail from noon to closing time one day prior at the Mount Robson Visitor Centre. All hikers must check in at the Mount Robson
