We stayed on the west side, on that side is the brake check area and an active gravelpit. You can drive up to the end of the strip and camp anywhere on the left. The other side of the highway is much shorter but has some small trees on the strip itself making it a bit less open. There is one spot you can stay between the vegetation and where you out of sight of the highway. It rainy when we stayed but that's no problem with all the gravel, not many mosquitoes.
