Description

This is a small roadside recreation site that is popular with canoeists and kayakers paddling on the Similkameen River or just a spot to picnic and view the river. A great descriptive kiosk of the historic Dewdney Trail is on site. Driving Directions: Located only 10 minutes east of Princeton on the Old Hedley Road. Starting near the town of Princeton and from the junction between the Princeton-Summerland road and Old Hedley Road, travel east along the Old Hedley Road for approximately 6 kms. The recreation site will be on your right overlooking the Similkameen River.

Fills up quickly and it seems like it's with people from the area. A few picnic tables. Two roads on either side do create some noise as the logging mill isn't far down the road. It's late September so it gets down to 4 degrees Celsius

Nice little spot by the river, not alot of shade untill its late. About 6 or so sites with a table and firepit. Also a couple of spots that a tent will pitch. Warning did see a nudist on my first night when I came in but was friendly

I stayed here one night in October. It was very cold in Princeton, -7°C overnight. At 3am I awoke to the sound of chewing. I got up and looked around but couldn't see any animals. The sound would stop for a while, then come back. I tried to put in earplugs and go back to sleep.. But the thought of waking in the cold to flat tires thanks to a hungry porcupine kept me up. At 5:20am I got up and drove back into Princeton, just parking near the library to get some sleep. Several days later I was driving up a long hill when my engine overheated and I had to pull over. I opened my hood to find a pile of insulation sitting atop my engine. Whatever rodent was making the chewing that night must have been ripping the insulation from the wall around the engine and building itself a cozy nest in there
