Description
Within the Sayward Forest, Elk Bay is one of only two developed recreation sites with access to the ocean. There are two parts to the site: the main camping area with the boat launch and a smaller, two unit site located on the other side of the creek. There are great panorama vistas looking across Discovery Passage to Quadra and Sonora Islands and the mountains beyond.
There are 9 campsites with toilets, tables and a boat launch.
Driving Directions: From Campbell River, head north on Highway 19. Turn right just after Roberts Lake, onto the Elk Bay road (gravel) - about 33 km from town. Drive 11.3 km from the highway and you'll come to the junction of the Stella Lake road. Turn right, follow it for another 3.2 km and the road will split (log dump area straight ahead). Make a sharp right and carry on for another 0.7 km - you should reach the entrance to the main part of the site. The entrance to the small site is another 400 metres down the road.

Road is good and just wanted to add that there is one hill at 22%. I don't recommend coming here with a 2 wheel drive if pulling a trailer. 4x4 is best

Great place to stay! Quiet during the week. Will probably be busy on the weekend. You can park right on the beach. About 8 different sites with fire pits and picnic tables, some of them more shady and dry, all with a magnificent ocean/mountain view.

There's a few nice spots out here. Hunting wasn't very good.
