Description

Located in Jasper National Park, on the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti Campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook-up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 75 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire pits. Can accommodate most sizes of motorhomes and trailers. To keep pets and wildlife safe, your pets must be leashed at all times and not left unattended. Pet food should be stored inside your vehicle. Generators are permitted daily between 8 am 9:30 am and 5 pm 7 pm only. Firewood is included with the purchase of a fire permit and bear proof lockers are offered for safe food storage. To maintain the family-friendly atmosphere that attracts millions here every year, quiet hours, including a liquor, cannabis and fire curfew, are enforced by park wardens between 11 pm and 7 am. Note: Demand is heaviest from June through September, with July and August being the busiest. To avoid disappointment, make sure you have a camping reservation before coming to Jasper National Park.

Wir waren nicht überzeugt. Zwar sehr schön am Fluss mit Wanderwegen, aber nur eine Dusche, alt dreckig und eiskalt.

We had a wonderful big site in section FF which is probably one of the best sections as it is private and next to the river (steep walk down hill). Toilets are close by, but showers are a long way away. We preferred this campground over Whistlers as it is smaller, was nearby the river and had a playground. However it really depends what sites you are in at both campground. Overall we highly recommend staying at both campgrounds.

Powered and non-powered tenting sites. Free fire wood. Lots of elk wander the site. Potable water and dump station on the grounds. Short drive into Jasper townsite. Many trees have been cut down in the campsite due to pine beetle infestation so not a lot of privacy. Here in June and have seen lots of bears.
