Description
Maffeo Sutton Park is Nanaimo's signature park overlooking our world famous harbour. The park is a central point along the Harbour Front Walkway. It is a great year round destination for walking, playground playdates and picnics.
Features and amenities include access to the walking trail, Playdock destination playground (limited wheelchair access), Swy-a- Lana lagoon and swimming beach (no lifeguards), Lions Pavillion covered stage, Spirit Square, ferry access to Newcastle Island ferry, and washrooms.
There are a number of public art pieces located throughout the park and along the walking trail.
Public Wi-Fi is available.
Parking is free from 5pm to 8am but a fee applies during the day. Camping in tents is not permitted. Any overnight stays in RV's are unofficial.

Stayed here for one night in our van. No issues. Payed for the 24hr parking ($9).

There are no signs posted saying no overnight parking, we pulled in late with a travel trailer and just paid in the morning since we plan to hang out for the day, the onsite security didn't bat an eye. There were a handful of other "campers". Parking is only enforced from 8am to 5pm, 24hr rate is only 9$ the 9-12hr is 7$ super reasonable. The area is active at night though.
